I hate odd years. Hate is a strong word, but I can honestly say that odd-numbered years are never what I hope they will be. Granted, 2023 was quite an eventful year for me, and I had a wonderful time, but there is something about an even number. Why do I feel so strongly about even numbers, I have no clue. They bring a comfort that an odd number can not. So this year, I hope to create these resolutions and stick by them; the fact that this is an even year, I feel that I can accomplish this goal.
My resolutions are not too outrageous, and I think they will make me a better person overall. I want to save money for my future, and I want to live with more intention for my present. No reflection on the past, not sure that I feel a need to look backwards to go forwards. There are a few underlying goals within the three resolutions; I will go into detail with those plans later.
The biggest goal I'm most interested in is my savings goal. I have a hard time dealing with money and being responsible but I've been working pretty hard these past few months to create healthy habits. I spend a good amount of money on material things and would like to focus more on experiences. Honestly, would prefer to do both, but we know that's not possible, hopefully, with more intentional living and better saving techniques, I can make it happen! So far I'm going into month two of my cash budgeting journey and it has not been easy, dare I say .. impossible ... but it's going to be worth it I know for sure. Using cash makes we want to spend less and makes saving easier! I have two sinking funds and three online savings accounts that I do not touch.
Overall I'm very excited about what this year will bring and how I will be transformed. I'm also excited to share the journey on this blog so that I can look back on months and years to come!
